Simple Photoshop Tips and Tricks

Photoshop is a wonderful tool that can turn a worst image to inspirational one. All you need is the right level of understanding and how to play with different tools of the same. Here are some simple Photoshop tips and tricks that guarantees to save your time and ease handling with these tools.

Alter Brush Size while using

While working with brush tool, the image might demand change in size or a soft or hard stoke. To make any alterations, users generally go back to option palette. But with simple keyboard shortcuts you can save time and change the brush whenever you want. If you want to decrease the size of brush use the left bracket key and increase the size use the right bracket key. Similarly with shift and left bracket key you can make the brush soft and with shift and right bracket key you can increase the hardness of brush.

Aligning Objects

Alignment sometimes plays a pivotal role in composition. Guides are wonderful tools that help in attaining the perfect alignment. Guides can be created with rulers appearing at top and side of window. You can create a guide by clicking in ruler and dragging to create a ruler. You can hide or show guide with Control and colon from keyboard.

Cancelling and Resetting

The nature of work in Photoshop demands experimentation and sometimes the composition fails to meet the expectation of the user. Thus, instead of cancelling the entire hard work reset the work. You can reset by clicking on cancel button and Alt key together. The adjustment options will appear for required changes. Thus, let your imagination flow.

Layer and layer style duplication

While working with different layers, users might get confused, especially when the number is huge. If you are not sure about sequence of layers, just drag any layer to New layer icon. One simple keyboard shortcut to duplicate layer is to select the layer and press Control+J.
Like duplicating a layer, a composition might require applying layers styles in more than two or more layers. Simply select the desired layer styles and drag the layer style to the desired layer.

Unlocking Background Layer

While working on Photoshop the background layer remains locked. This is indicated with little lock icon on its corner. You cam unlock the background layer by double clicking on the icon or clicking on Alt key along with background layer.
